Looking Back and Moving Forward
Reflecting on 2020, there was a lot of chaos and uncertainty the year brought on. It is safe to say everyone is looking forward to better things to come in this new year. Many businesses throughout the country were faced with challenges and unprecedented circumstances like never before. Local businesses at the Jersey Shore were not spared in these experiences. What was and is so remarkable about this area is the spirit of the community; that feeling that we were all in this together, and we would make it out together.
With restrictions and the ever-changing guidelines businesses had to adhere to, local restaurants, entertainment parks, and shops managed to get creative with their services to stay afloat. Shops and boutiques started e-commerce endeavors with online shops, created pick-up services, and monitored allotted capacity in stores. Restaurants created online ordering and pick-up/delivery services, and many also created beautiful, brand new outdoor seating areas to accommodate guests within the safety guidelines. Visitors and locals alike helped to support these businesses and continue to do so.
So Fresh and So Clean
Accommodations in the area have increased and are maintaining strict cleaning protocols and standards as we roll into the new year, continuing to prioritize safety. This includes but is not limited to plexiglass installations, hand sanitizer stations, mandatory mask-wearing, and social distancing when necessary.
We too at Shorebreak have recently made safety adjustments to make sure our guests feel comfortable and safe and are using an electrostatic sprayer at The Dunes in Sea Isle City. The Impala Island Inn has installed plexiglass at their front desk. This way, guests are as kept as safe as possible so they can leave their worries behind and enjoy the beach life! The beaches have plenty of room for social distancing while still enjoying the warm sun, sand in your toes, and ocean waves with a safe place to stay.
New Year: Time for a Refresh and Excitement
This last year has been a lesson to what really matters in life. Many people would like to spend more quality time with family, friends, and loved ones. A couple of exciting things this year are that La Costa Lounge & Bar is back for this summer, and Ocean City’s newest, coastal-chic suites will be open for rentals!
LaCosta, a Sea Isle favorite, is back! Developer Christopher Glancey and business partner Bob Morris originally had plans to demolish the lounge in the fall to build a hotel, restaurant, outdoor bar, and banquet hall, but now plans to reopen the bar for one more summer while he and Morris revise their plans for the hotel complex.
